Most marketing automation expansions get announced like they solve everything. They don't.
Tenon just announced it's bringing omnichannel marketing automation and AI-powered engagement into the ServiceNow platform. The short version: if your organization already runs ServiceNow, you can now run marketing campaigns and customer engagement workflows inside that same environment instead of stitching together separate tools.
That's a real shift — on paper. ServiceNow was built for IT and service operations, not for the way a mid-market marketing or ops team actually thinks about customer journeys. Adding marketing automation on top of a platform that wasn't designed around your revenue workflow is the same trade-off you've made before — just with a different logo on the login screen.
If you've already been burned by consultants promising "one platform to rule them all," this announcement is worth watching, not celebrating. The question isn't whether the integration exists. It's whether the people running your campaigns can actually use it without filing a ticket to IT every time they need to change a workflow.
You don't need more features bolted onto a platform that was never built around how your team sells and retains customers.
